The NiceOlds series of trombones, trumpets and cornets was launched in about 1932 and shortly became renowned. These fresh trombones apparently met with success quickly, and with the assist of Earl Strickler and Earl Williams, Olds expanded production to about 200 a season and shifted into a large service by the earlier 1920s. Many Olds trombones had been made to order at this period. Model designations had been Solo, Little Medium, Moderate, Large Moderate, Large and Symphony, which did not show a specific bore and bell mixture, but a relatives size.
